Fostering is a very rewarding experience. It is very difficult and not for everyone. It is much more than just opening up your home to a homeless animal, as it also plays a HUGE part in helping the adoption counselors match up the dog with the perfect family! For more information on fostering, please complete the application, and we will send you a foster packet to see if it is right for you! Remember, ALL of our dogs are from the pound, breeder programs, or puppy mills and are therefore NOT HOUSE-TRAINED, obedience trained, etc. You must have the time and patience to assist in training these dogs, so that you can assist in finding them a home. Please understand we temperament test our dogs very well prior to coming in to match them up with your foster home, but issues will arise (none of them will be safety issues, but rather behavioral issues), and you must be committed to working with your foster, as we do NOT have a shelter and there is nowhere else for these dogs to go. It is a huge commitment, and often times inconvenient, but without fosters nice, happy, loving dogs die just because they are not house-trained or behavioral trained.
THANK YOU for applying to become a foster parent for Close to Home Animal Rescue!
